As is known, the functioning of the protective barrier depends on the activity of the stratum corneum. Well-formed stratum corneum cells support the skin surface. Thus, the separation of the upper horny cells triggers the formation of new cells in the basal layer (stem cells), which is the basis of the cell renewal mechanism. The peeling procedure is based on this mechanism, which involves the regular removal (according to the skin cycle, once a month) of the excess of the old horny layer, allowing the ideal rhythm of the cell renewal cycle, which slows down with age, to be maintained.
